When UGG set out to expand its retail presence within Macy’s, the goal was clear: translate the elevated, experiential feel of its European flagship store into a scalable, high-performing store-in-store environment for the U.S. market.

To do that, they needed more than a fabricator. They needed a partner who could interpret, adapt, and execute their design vision—without compromising the integrity of the brand.

That’s where DisplayIt came in.

The Challenge: Bringing a Flagship Experience Into a Constrained Retail Environment

UGG’s European flagship in Knightsbridge, London set the tone—warm materials, soft textures, and a refined, lifestyle-driven aesthetic that invites customers to slow down and engage.

But translating that into a Macy’s footprint introduced new challenges:

  • Limited square footage

  • Existing store constraints and infrastructure

  • The need for durability in a high-traffic environment

  • Maintaining brand consistency across locations

The question became: How do you bring a premium, immersive brand experience into a more compact, operationally complex space?

The Approach: Design Interpretation + Strategic Enhancement

UGG came to DisplayIt with a strong design direction rooted in their European stores—but they also needed a partner to make that vision work in a new context.

Led by Design Services Manager Rochelle Lozano, the team approached the project as both a translation and an evolution. Rather than simply replicating the European design, DisplayIt:

  • Adapted materials and layouts to meet U.S. retail requirements

  • Introduced new elements to enhance visual impact

  • Optimized the space for flow, merchandising, and customer interaction

“We took what they loved about their European store and made it functional for this environment,” Lozano explained.

Elevating the Experience Through Design

While UGG provided a strong foundation, several key design elements were introduced or refined by DisplayIt to elevate the final result.

Custom Materiality

The space features a warm, layered palette designed to reflect UGG’s brand—comfortable, elevated, and tactile. From wood tones to specialized finishes, every material was selected to balance durability with visual softness.

Notably, the team incorporated higher-end materials—such as custom finishes and specialty laminates—to closely match the look and feel of the flagship experience.

Integrated Visual Storytelling

DisplayIt enhanced the environment with added architectural and graphic elements, including:

  • Rounded display frames that soften the space and echo UGG’s organic aesthetic

  • Custom wall features that create depth and dimension

  • Branded graphics that reinforce storytelling throughout the store

These elements weren’t part of the original brief—but once presented, they became essential.

“The client saw the renderings and said, ‘We want that,’” Lozano shared.

Custom Fixtures & Details

From seating to display systems, every component was carefully considered. Even elements like the rug were custom-designed to align with the brand’s visual language—creating a cohesive environment where every detail contributes to the overall experience.

Budget Meets Vision

Like many projects, budget played a role in shaping decisions. DisplayIt worked closely with UGG to present multiple pathways:

  • A fully realized design with premium materials and custom elements

  • Value-engineered alternatives that maintained the design intent

  • Simplified options for cost efficiency

Ultimately, UGG made the decision to invest further in the space—expanding the budget to incorporate key design features that elevated the final result.

That decision made all the difference.

Execution: From Concept to Reality

With design finalized, DisplayIt handled engineering, fabrication, and installation—ensuring every detail was carried through with precision.

Thanks to in-house capabilities and a fully integrated approach, the team was able to:

  • Maintain consistency across all elements

  • Ensure quality control from fabrication to install

  • Deliver a seamless final product that matched the original vision

The Result: A Cohesive, Elevated Retail Experience

The finished UGG store-in-store delivers on every level:

  • A warm, inviting environment that reflects the brand’s identity

  • A layout that supports customer flow and product discovery

  • A design that feels premium—without losing functionality

Most importantly, it proves what’s possible when design and execution work together.

The Takeaway

This project is a perfect example of DisplayIt’s role as more than a builder. We don’t just execute—we collaborate, interpret, and elevate.

Whether it’s adapting a global flagship concept or introducing new ideas that push a project further, our goal is always the same: Create environments that look exceptional—and perform in the real world.
