Displayit on the AGENDA – LBC

The gods of ASR past were smiling last week as The Agenda Show took place at Long Beach Convention Center on Jan 5-6. Agenda’s growth in the last few years has allowed industry greats like Hurley, Quiksilver, Converse and Volcom a unique venue to show their new lines. Displayit built out a custom co-op booth for Levi’s and Nike to christen the partnership work these two will be collaborating on in 2012. High Fives to Krystle, Patrick, and the shop for their work in adding some of the flavor at Agenda’s 1st Show in the city they call Long Beach.

New PEAK Store Landed in LA

Westfield’s Culver City Mall added a new PEAK Sports USA Store just in time for Christmas. This is PEAK’s 1st store opening ever in the USA as they are building on their success in the footwear market in both China and Europe. Plans for additional PEAK Stores are in the works as PEAK’s Hoop Shoes, Running Shoes, and Apparel all bleed style.

Displayit built and installed all the fixtures at the Culver City Store which is on the 2nd floor of the mall. The store has clean lines, shoe walls made with subway tile, and lit graphics which pay homage to top PEAK Athletes like Shane Battier, Javale McGee, and Dorrel Wright. PEAK USA Big Man McGee in particular is worth following. He is an NBA Eastern Conference Beast. McGee has recently been ripping the rim down with his dunks for the Wizards. We’ll see if he comes back for more at the 2012 NBA Dunk Contest after being awarded 2nd in 2011 for dunking 2 balls in 2 separate baskets at once -  insane.

Skies full of lighters go out to Displayit’s Patrick, Sergio, Shani, Andrew, Leonard, Russ, and Hector amongst others for making this work happen!

This month we shine the spotlight on Sergio Valerio

Displayit’s shop is made up of dozens of valuable team members who have completed build jobs done on time and with exceptional quality in 2011. Lun Thang and Jose Isaac Vaquez aka “Chiquito” have both recently received Employee of the Month Awards for strong efforts. The Shop Spotlight is another way to express our appreciation for jobs well done.

This month we shine the spotlight on Sergio Valerio:

Q: Sergio, how long have you been working for Displayit and what does it mean to you to be a part of such a great build & install team?

A: “I have been with Displayit for 4 years now. It means a lot to me to work here. We have a great team in the shop. We are always improving our work techniques and I love to go out on the installs. Every day is new and seeing new places for work is great.”

Q: Where have you been working lately?

A: “It has been busy lately. I was in New York for the Quik Pro on Long Island. Then we did a bunch of work at Jacks Dana Point. Nixon work in NorCal as well as this last PEAK job at Culver City.”

Q: Sounds good. Also, we must ask, how do you feel about people at Displayit comparing you to The Most Interesting Man in the World?

A: “Ha ha, I am younger and better looking than that guy, but if they pay me and give me some TV Time, then I will accept the part!”

The RIGHT way to do a holiday party – look & learn!

Displayit’s holiday party was yet another standout event in our company’s history book.  Team United took the Gold Metal after several grueling rounds of cut-throat dodge ball.  Sky High Sports provided the arena & Displayit, of course, brought the fun!!

Afterward, our group of 80+ dined at Maggiano’s and stole holiday gifts from one another in a 4 hour never ending game of white elephant.  Recognized winners included those who got to pick from, “la mesa”, and the brave two awarded a cash prize for pegging both Mike & Rob square in the face during the tournament.  What would a holiday party be without the bosses injured and bleeding?

Thanks ALL for a great 2011!

You are cordially invited…

…Nov.7-12, 2011 South Coast Plaza, Chanel Boutique. A Private Styling Event.

Late October was spent preparing a few fine event items, for the Chanel boutique at South Coast Plaza Mall.

The opportunity for Displayit’s Krystle McAllister, to work with the legendary brand as the account lead, was in itself a joy that could not be measured. “Just the prospect of being able to work such a huge powerhouse of a brand, made me giddy with excitement…I mean, It’s CHANEL!”

Chanel brought their event designs from Paris to Displayit Inc, with the hopes of being able to use a local vendor for the West Coast event.  With its classic look and feel, Displayit was able to execute the Chanel designs flawlessly. Eight foot tall partitions done in the classic pure white with black border enabled the event to be separate from the daily retail within the boutique space. Matte black metal garment racks were fabricated in shop, and the famed “double CC”, gold plated and polished logos were applied. Simple white cubes to serve as writing tables were finished smooth and set in the space.  We fabricated most of the items and coordinated other event collateral to be rented, in order to make the event as beautiful as expected.  Equipped with an overnight install team, setup was done right on time for the opening of the event.

The event was open to some of the boutique’s most exclusive shoppers. They had a fashion styling team from Paris in attendance, ready to show their customers how to wear their vintage Chanel pieces with their newer pieces.

The event was a hit, and the event items will be used over and over again a various west coast events for the brand.

Quiksilver: Waterman’s

Displayit’s recent completion of the Fashion Island Waterman’s Store by Quiksilver has gotten a lot of buzz this past month.  Branded as luxury beach apparel, Quik - Watermans used ”compelling images” of athletes and ocean backdrops that overwhelm the buyer as soon as they step foot in the store.   Steve Jones, freelance designer for Quiksilver, graciously provided feedback on the new store in a brief interview.

Steve states: “[We wanted] a space that was light, open airy and [had] a sense of discovery throughout the store.”  Steve also described the athlete vignettes, dress rooms, and photos as attributes that “keep the shopper around a bit longer” while keeping the directed focus on the merchandise.

Of course we wanted to know what Steve thought about the job Displayit had done on the actualization of his vision.  Steve replied, ” I think the end result speaks for itself, the store looks fantastic and everyone involved should be proud of the outcome!  Original vision for sure realized, a big thanks to Displayit!”

Thanks, Steve!  And a special thanks to Lun, Agapito, Morgana, Byron, Sergio, Patrick, Carlos & Mike for making Orange County a little bit more beautiful!
